The Heffner Stamp of Assurance
At the Heffner Used Vehicle Centre, we consistently have a selection of over 80 pre-owned vehicles in stock as well as a good selection of As-Traded vehicles on the lot. All of our pre-owned vehicles (excluding As-Traded vehicles) come with the Heffner Stamp of Assurance and with every vehicle purchased you receive 2 free oil changes and a 30 day/1,600km exchange privilege. We are always asked what makes our Stamp of Assurance vehicles different from a regular certified pre-owned vehicle. Here is the answer:
Our vehicles go through a rigorous inspection. Our 150-point Certification check covers 10 different areas such as maintenance, functional operation, walk-around, under vehicle (on hoist) , pre-road test, road test and appearance certification which includes interior and exterior. Our technicians check everything from operation of gauges, windshield wiper blades, a/c operation, rear defogger, headlight aim, spark plugs and idle speed.
All tires must have a minimum of 4/32 tread and even wear characteristics compared to just 2/32 to pass a safety. Brakes must have minimum material of 3mm on pads and 2mm on shoes while a safety requires 1.5mm to pass. This means all of our "Certified" used vehicles have plenty of brake and tire wear left.
Checking the drive belts and hoses, under hood fluid levels and ignition wires are part of the pre-road test inspection while the actual road test covers things such as cold engine start-up, clutch and transmission operation, brake and parking brake operation, steering operation and off-centre and engine drivability and performance.
All vehicles are then checked through the Used Car Dealer Association of Ontario for liens, accidents and ownership and even if a vehicle shows that it has not had any accidents the Used Vehicle Sales Manager inspects the vehicles with a special paint checker that indicates if part of the vehicle has been repaired.
Once the inspection has been finished and all the details meet the standard, that’s when the vehicle receives its Heffner Stamp of Assurance.
